Wild Planet is the new exhibition at the Natural History Museum. It showcases all the best images from the archives of their annual ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ exhibition, which means the standard is high and the images are very striking. We loved the above picture, taken by¬†Gabriela Staebler, showing a giraffe and her calves in the African sunset.

Below we have selected other images that caught our eye, the joyous feeling of the ape flinging his arms in the arm (taken by Kristen J Mosher), the juxtaposition of seeing an elephant glide through the water (taken by Jeff Yonover in India) and who could resist the leopard cub (taken by Peter Chadwick in South Africa)- look at his little eyes!

Best of all, not only is it free but it is an outdoor exhibition, meaning a visit is the perfect way to mark the beginning of Summer, which after the clock change this weekend – it officially is! The exhibition features 80 images that show a mixture of wildlife and the natural world – pop down now until the 30th September 2012.
